Villa D’Este Style 2017

A special family event takes place every two years in the Villa d’Este on Lake Como. At the cradle of automobile beauty contests, the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Coupés Villa d’Este will meet at the “Villa d’Este Style 2017 – One Lake, One Car” event. A weekend of elegance, style and design, which for the fifth time brings together owners of Alfa Romeo Villa d’Este classic cars from all over the world on Lake Como. For the valuable and esteemed Automobile is a participation like a trip back home – to the origin. When they group themselves under the large plane tree on the grounds of the Grand Hotel, a picture of harmony arises.

For the very first time, the cars will be shown in public. On Saturday 22nd April the noble Villa D’Este Alfa Romeos will be on the Piazza Risorgimento beach promenade in Cernobbio between 15:00 and 17:00.

The history of the automobile beauty contests began on Lake Como. Here one met new cars and proudly presented the magnificent bodies, which were mostly made as single pieces. The audience chose and in the end there was a winner.

One of these cars was the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Coupe with the elegant sheet metal dress of Carozzeria Touring, which won in 1949. Soft flowing lines, a dynamic overall impression and everything on the sporty chassis of the 6C 2500 SS – that convinced.

Today the Hotel-Resort Villa d’Este is the only hotel in the world, after which a luxury vehicle – now classic car – was named. Owner Sr. Fontana is proud of the fact that he was able to purchase one of the rare cars for the hotel icon, of which up to now only 17 existing copies are known.

The noble Alfa Romeo Villa d ‘Este was built a total of 31 times and equipped with the respective special wishes of the owner. At first sight, the bodies seem almost the same, but the impression is deceiving. Each vehicle is hand-crafted and is not only unique, but also bears the legacy of its first owner to the present day.
This year, the Alfa Romeo Museum will bring two additional Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 vehicles to this exclusive meeting. A real special guest will be the Alfa Romeo GP Type 158. This racing car from the 1950s, better known as “Alfetta”, won the very first Formula 1 World Championship in 1950.
