A yellow teapot dominates currently the worldwide motorsports news. When auto companys celebrate an important anniversary, they crown this memorable moment with a special model with special emblems and color schemes, possibly even with special equipment. Renault has a completely different marketing concept for the 40th anniversary of their Formula 1 successes – they designed a yellow teapot which looks like a racing car. A hint to the nickname that Ken Tyrrell gave to the 1977 Renault RS01 Formula 1 Bolide, the “yellow teapot”. Although the team had some technical problems with the RS01 in 1977, Renault was able to win the Grand Prix de France with the RS01 in 1979. This was followed by a successful racing history with 11 Drivers Championships and 12 engineering victories.
The design of the pot was also inspired by the colors of the RS01, which was then painted yellow and black on the racetrack. The lower part of the pot is black, the upper part, which reminds very much of a Formula 1 car in the direction of the spout, is held in yellow. The handle forms the roll-over bar from the front. The lid looks like the cockpit of this racing car. The yellow pot was offered from September 2017 for 129 euros. Renault plans a limited edition of 40 pieces. It is available at the Atélier Renault store on the Champs d’Elysées or on the Atelier’s website.
