A concept car, which was actually developed for a game console, shone at the Tokyo Motor Show. The Iso Rivolta Vision was originally designed by the Italian design company Zagato for the Sony console game “Grand Turismo Sport”.
Zagato decided to build a prototype of the Iso Rivolta Vision for the Tokyo show after completion of the design. According to press release three or even five individual pieces are planned.
The Zagato Atelier honors with the design of the new Vision Gran Turismo the prestigious Milan-based carmaker IsoRivolta, which produced stunning Gran Turismo sports cars during the golden era of automobiles, with the elegant Italian design combined with American design powertrains. The passion for racing, combined with luxury and reliability, was the source for their inspiration.
The IsoRivolta Vision Gran Turismo Zagato is now closing the circle and bringing us back to Milan, where after the Second World War, the GT class of motorsports was designed by four illustrious Milan personalities: Count Giovannino Lurani, the journalists Giovanni Canestrini and Corrado Filippini, and gentleman driver Elio Zagato, the father of Andrea, the current CEO of Zagato. This mid-size GT class included cars halfway between production sedans and race-built barchettas of international motorsport.
Zagato models – streamlined and lightweight coupes that are successful in racing, but also comfortable enough for everyday use – have found their natural place in the new GT category, monopolize it and secure numerous victories.
The Zagato IsoRivolta Vision Gran Turismo featured in the video game is built around a bespoke chassis and Corvette Callaway powertrain. Rear-wheel drive, it mounts a twin turbo 6.2 liter V8.
With an output of 997 hp and a top speed of 365 km / h (227 km / h). With a weight of 1129 kg (2489 lbs), it accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 2 “7. The transmission is a ten-speed automatic / sequential.
