Auction: Oldie VW Beetle sold for 121.000 Dollar

“Thank you, you crazy people!” were the words TV Star Jerry Seinfeld greeted the visitors of the auction by Gooding & company in the environment of Iceland of the Amelia Concours. 18 vehicles from the collection of the American idol were sold. Most of them were Porsches. And most of the offered vintage cars were sold well above the estimate. Then, a 1960 VW Beetle rolled on the stage. In two hours, 17 of the classics were sold for the sum of $22.2 million.
The Porsche 550 Spyder 1955 reached his estimate of five million to six million dollars with $5.3 million. The Porsche 718 RSK Spyder, however, was estimated at $ 5 million, but reached only $2.3 million. As well, the highlight of the auction, the Porsche 917/30 of 1973 with documented racing history, it stayed far below the estimate of five to seven million dollars. He reached only $3 million. The Volkswagen T1 Bulli camper, which has been used for Seinfeld family as a juice bar in the Hamptons, was sold for $99,000.
