For almost six months, they waited for this moment … And finally, the participants of the historic races gathered for the first meeting of the season in Montmeló in Spain. In short: All traffic lights stand on green for the tabletts of Peter Auto!
Since its founding in 1991, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has been the top dog for historic races. That’s why the classic car season 2018 begins there before continuing to Spa-Francorchamps, Dijon-Prenois, Le Mans, Castellet and Imola. For the occasion, seven of Peter Auto’s eight tabletts were launched last weekend.
The 212 cars in the paddocks of the Catalan circuit (last year: 145) prove: classic races are in! Particularly high was the number of participants in the group C Racing, raising from 12 to 21. A great confirmation for Peter Auto, who had set in 2016 on the integration of this “modern” starting group in his series. For Le Mans Classic in July the goal will be to exceed the symbolic number of 50 prototypes at the start …
“The Greatest’s Trophy” Endurance gathered models of the 1950s and 1960s. 18 exceptional vehicles appeared: among others an Alfa Romeo TZ (1963), an Aston Martin DB2 Vantage (1952), a Bizzarrini 5300 GT (1965), a Ferrari 250 Belinetta (1960), a 250 GT Breadvan (1961) 250 LM (1964), a Maserati 300 S (1957), a Porsche 718 RSK (1960) and a 904 GTS (1964).
This small world will meet again on 18, 19 and 20 May in Belgium for the 8th edition of Spa-Classic. In between, fans of historic races can look forward to the 27th edition of the Tour Auto Optic 2000 from April 23 to 28 in France.
