Downtown Vienna was dominated by the classic automobile on the weekend of 18 and 19 August. After a waltz dance on Saturday morning, the vintage cars started their tour through Vienna, where the participants had to complete a few stops with checks and exams. Around 250 classic cars rolled past the Hofburg, Burgtheater and the Albertina. An opportunity to admire the classic vehicles in front of a historical backdrop and take pictures. In the late afternoon the big parade took place on the closed ring road and about 30,000 spectators attended.
The Vienna Classic Days were first held 17 years ago and have developed into an international event. Participants come from all over the world to take part in this tour. The very special historical backdrop of Vienna and the special hospitality cause some participants to come back every year. The participation fee is calculated from the year of construction of the vehicle. 2.80 euros per year, calculated from 1900. The younger the vehicle, the higher the participation fee. The event was crowned on Sunday with a picnic in the Donau Park. The oldest participating vehicle was a Rolls Royce 20/25 “Baby Rolls” from 1927.
The conclusion of the event took place with an award ceremony in front of the Vienna City Hall.
