The call for a light weight variant of the McLaren 675LT was big. McLaren announced now to impose a 25-piece Limited Edition version with complete carbon chassis and carbon outer skin: the MSO carbon series 675LT spider.
Carbon technology for the McLaren 675LT spider is nothing new, but also the earlier painted parts are now in visible carbon optics. Some parts – like the retractable roof, the A-pillar, bonnet and also the front fender – are now build in carbon fiber. The front fenders are decorated with vent louvers, like at the cars of the GT3 series. The carbon fiber is used to achieve a significant weight reduction, but McLaren is silent about how much lighter the carbon athlete is, compared to the production car. The limited Edition Supersportscar is powered by a double turbo boosted 3.8 liter V8 engine with a capacity of 675 hp. The carbon athletes accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 326 km/h. The MSO carbon series 675LT spider will be produced in autumn 2016. The first vehicles will be delivered by the end of 2016.
Who now desires to buy one of these lightweights: too late – as so often with new special models of McLaren, all copies have already been sold.
