A unique motorcycle charity event, the “distinguished gentlemen ride”, was launched in 2012 It is a tribute to the elegance and style of heritage motorcycles. This event now will take place on the 25. September and the collected donations will benefit the fight against prostate cancer. Since 2014, triumph is the main sponsor of this event, which is all about the cult around motorcycles.
With the support of Triumph the aim for the event in September is bringing together 50,000 like-minded people in 500 cities within 90 countries to take part at this “distinguished gentlemen ride’. Classic machines and the gentlemen in elegant suits will then shape the streetscape on this day. Mark Hawwa, the founder of this event, had this idea, as he watched the Mad Man series and saw main character Don Draper (John Hamm) driving a classic motocycle in his suit. He wore his finest suit. Hawwa aims to change the negative image of a man on a motorcycle and to bring together motorcycle niches. 2014, around 2500 drivers in 64 cities came together.
The charity partner is the Movember Foundation. Hawwa would like to collect a donation amount of around $5 million this year. At the time of closing this editorial already 10,600 drivers confirmed their participation and a amount of 276.650 dollars could be collected.
