Vintage on the Boulevard

The eighth edition of the Emirates Classic Car Festival in Dubai was held in March 2016.

Cars in Dubai – that is something very special. On the Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, leading miles around the Burji Kalifa, the highest Tower in the world, car fans show the visitors in the street cafes, what they have. You could call that “strolling in the car”. Classic cars are rather a rarity in the bustling everyday street scene of the desert State. However, during the Emirates classic car festivals, hundreds of classic cars are stealing the show of the modern Supercars.

Along the Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard at Dubai’s modern downtown, with its restaurants and lounges, snow-white tents with vintage cars are lining up along the wide walkways. After four days, more than 37,000 visitors have seen the Emirates classic car Festival. 400 vintage and collector vehicles had participated in this year’s event, which is organized by the real estate company EMAAR. Ferrari, Rolls Royce, Aston Martin and Mercedes-Benz were the big names.

The international jury was at the awards ceremony on the red carpet. Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the ATCUAE (President of the Automobile Club of the Arab Emirates) commented: “the Emirates classic car Festival is growing from year to year. For many of the participants t is not just a hobby to collect, but to preserve the vintage cars is their passion. Through the Festival, visitors have the opportunity to see these cars as a true piece of art.”

During the award-ceremony the classics roll along the red carpet roll and receive their award. Best of show 2016 was the Mercedes-Benz 170S Cabriolet.
The nextt Emirates classic car Festival will be from 16.- 18. March 2017. A possibility to experience classic car passion in Dubai.
